Our Season 3 Premier, Think Wisely, includes a segment on the fake news, misinformation, and advances in artificial intelligence to sway and influence our decision.  One of our guests, Augie Wake-McGinnity is the digital communications pod director for Digidems, a company that says it “positively impacts Democratic outcomes in the elections cycle” by implementing best practices in the tech space.  In a world where political races are often won and lost by small margins, Augie says technology and data expertise can make all the difference. We asked Augie if he could assess the republican and Democrats technical and data expertise as we approach the November election,

“Historically, if you go back ten or 15 years, it was common knowledge that Democrats had an edge here on technology and data security,” Augie said. “That’s not the case so much anymore. In terms of the security aspect [of elections] it’s better for everyone. It is just so important that we have security on our campaigns. And there’s also a lot of great work going on that’s nonpartisan right now. They’re just kind of there as a resource to make sure that both Democrats and Republican campaigns are secure from outside threats. Day by day the Russians, the Chinese and other bad actors are getting more advanced. And we need to maintain our edge.”
